Jenny and I got a big dose of endorphans this afternoon. They are the chemicals we produce in our bodies when we laugh, exercise, and  feel good.

The reason we got this big dose was because the doctor said that the (cystic, i.e. fluid filled) tumour on her right ovary that has been growing and was over 13 cm (a little over 5 inches) quite awhile ago, is now a negligible size. Wow!

Dr. McMurtrie had asked the radiology doctor that would be inserting Jenny's drain last week to look at it and drain if possible. Turns out he saw it by her bowel and said it would be too dangerous to try to drain it, and besides, it was insignificant anyway. I cannot tell you how this elated us.

We do not know anythng about the other, smaller "popcorn like" tumours on the peritoneum because she has not had a CT scan for quite some time.

Dr. McMurtrie's last day was today. While we were waiting she was between patients and came in a couple of times and had a little visit with us. She said even if she is offered another contract she's not sure if she will take it or not. She is still helping out with surgeries and doing a bit of teaching. We told her that though her retirement is a big loss to the women of Vancouver Island, she deserves a life full of enjoyment now.

Her replacement, (who Jenny saw today) Dr.Mazgani is a woman likely in her late 30s, and we have heard good reports about her from a lot of different people. Like Dr. McMurtrie, she has a rare double specialty in gynecology and oncology.  Whew! We really did not want Dr. Michels anymore so we're so glad Dr. McMurtrie set us up with her last time we were in. We had made it clear to Dr. McMurtrie that we did not want Dr. Michels so we are happy about it.

As an interesting little footnote, Dr. McMurtrie wants to learn more about the computer and wants to take some lessons. She is signed up for 4 lessons somewhere. I said I do computer basics tutouring. She wanted my phone number so I wrote it down for her. She said don't be surprised if I hear from her. Last I saw her she was telling Dr. Mazgani I do computer tutouring so that would be a funny little thing at the end of our medical relationship with her.

As per the last post, her last drain was 9 days ago. At this time she is not starting to feel any fluid build-up. Presumably it will happen, but we are focusing on the really good thing we found out today!

We are feeling 'right up there' tonight!
