Tuesday, January 18

Jenny's second chemo treatment was yesterday.
We saw the doctor first - Dr. Smith, the same one who guided her treatment last time and we're glad she was able to have her again.

Jenny had had a CT scan on January 4, as well as a chest X-ray and blood work each week.
Fortunately the cancer has not sprung up anywhere else. Whew.
It is, however, in the abdominal cavity as before (and as was expected),

The weekly blood tests show that the CA125, the tumour marker blood test, is coming down.
As of January 11, it was down to 84, down from 166 the week before, and 416 in October.
We do not have any results from her tests on the 17th. Presumably there has been another drop.

The treatment itself is so much easier than last year's. Just over 2 hours, compared to 5 hours is significant.
And the cocktail does not contain the other drugs that really affected her.
She goes in, gets hooked up, and leaves again feeling pretty fine.
In fact, she came home yesterday and straightened up the garage, hung some pictures, connected a DVD and tidied some shelves! So far she's like the Energizer Bunny - the crash will come late today or tomorrow likely. Meanwhile, she is enjoying the energy. While her energy was good these last 10 days or so, it is now heightened - most likely by the pills she has to take for the first couple of days.

The picture above was taken today.
