It is hard to believe that it was only 3 weeks ago tomorrow, Thursday, that we saw Dr. Michels at the cancer agency. From there, everything happened at lightning speed, and we have been on a 12 day trip to California! Unbelievable!
I am not sure whether I mentioned this or not, but when we saw Dr. Michels we found out that Dr. McMurtrie was indeed still at the cancer clinic - not sure if maybe part time. She had retired completely, but evidently part of that may bhave been budgetary. They got money for her so extended her contract.
She was always in private practice, but was transitioning inot retirement through the cancer agency.
We had been upset to hear that she was retired, but found out through him that she is back.
We made it very clear to him that we felt that she is our lifeline and we felt a bit insecure without her. He said , "well, the cancer agency is your lifeline now".
We we really pretty turned off him, then way he came in with his cavalier attitude (to say the least) and without barely saying hello, telling her some pretty harsh information.
We do not blame him for the message. But the way in which he delivered it was unnecessary and very very hard.
We have found it hard to understand why he has not handed us back to Dr. McMurtrie.
Well, I forget why now, but before we went to California, Dr. McMurtrie's office called Jenny about the radiologist appointment, and Jenny said we had seen Dr. Michels, So as I coached from the side, Jenny told this secretary that she wanted Dr. McMurtrie back. Lo and behold, today in the mail came an appointment card, replacing the November appointment with Dr. Michels with one with Dr. McMurtrie on December 2. Woohoo! We are happy campers. It is very important when you are going through something like this, to feel comfortable with your doctor and we are not comfortable with him and his manner.
I will post again after the radiologist appointment October 12.
