Today has been a good day.
We saw Dr. McLean this morning, subbing for Dr. Smith, her regular oncologist. What a relief to find out that her CA125 is down to 22. That is down from 34 last time. It was just such good news.
Jenny's hemoglobin was very low, as I wrote earlier, so she had the transfusion which has stood her in good stead. Her neutrofils and total white blood cell count however, were very low this past Monday, and she has basically been in 'lockup since!' Dr. McLean told her to have her blood taken again today so they could re-test for them, and to have it done again on Sunday. If they are both still too low by Sunday, chemo would have to be postponed.
Dr. McLean (who always refers to himself simply as "Grant") called later this afternoon to inform us that they both were restoring nicely. Hopefully by Sunday they will be even better. And while they are both still below normal by quite a bit, they are acceptable enough to do chemo on Monday.
So at the end of the day, we had to say 'thanks', this was a good day.
