Today Jenny is feeling quite a bit better, but a little battered and tired.
Yesterday we got a call to be at the Jubilee Hospital at 1:15 for an ultrasound. From there, she would be taken to the cancer clinic, and they would drain her abdomen.
In the end, they drained 3 1/2 litres of fluid from her! Even though she felt totally thrashed, it was a relief to her to have that pressure taken away.
During the process, Dr. McMurtrie came by to see her, and explained the new chemo regime. There is a new chemo drug that was not available last year. At this point, it is not given to everyone, but she thinks Jenny will be a good candidate for it. The treatment will last for 1 1/2 hours (as opposed to 5 hours last time), and she most likely will not lose her hair. There will be 6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart the same as last time.
Her oncology intake meeting is for Friday morning, then I guess we will find out what time she is to be there on Monday.
This blog doubles as our diary, and a common information place for those interested in knowing what is happening. You are welcome to drop in any time.
Just to clarify, Jenny is not in the hospital. She was just there as a day patient. She is not expected to be hospitalized for this. The chemo will be done at eh cancer clinic through the day.
