Sunday, December 20

Yesterday we had our family Christmas. Linda Schmidt and her daughter Shannon Moore were here along with Carl Shannon and Sophie. For those of you who do not know them, Linda is the first friend Jenny made in Canada, and Shannon is Jenny's goddaughter. The Schmidts are Jenny's "Canadian family'.

We had already planned Christmas for the 19th, even before we knew Jenny would have a recurrence. It is an annual tradition, as it frees Carl and Shannon for Christmas Day with other family members.

In the picture above, Jenny is watching me take my turn at golf on a new Wii set from Linda and Shannon. What a great distraction that will be during the next 6 months.

So as of today, we are feeling 'up' and optimistic about what lies ahead inthe next 6 months. Going to Arizona, as we had planned, would be preferable, what we have to be thankful for what we DO have rather than what we do not.

We are thankful for the top notch doctors Jenny has, as well as a general practitioner who we absolutely adore and who gives the best care possible. She EVEN came to the oncology visit on Firday with us. The oncologist said that has never happened in his experience.

We are also thankful that Jenny has an opportunity for treatment, something that many do not. So while things are not ideal, we are moving forward with the most positive attitude we can muster.

I will keep posting to the blog as things progress.
