We had a call yesterday from Aviva, Jenny's nurse from Monday. Dr. Mazgani has approved the permanent drain, so that is being organized for probably next week, though we do not yet have a date for it. She was going to set up the community nursing and some other systems to see us through this thing. The community/public health nurse will come in to do the actual drain, take care of it etc.
Today I had a call from VIHA (Vancouver Island Health Authority), and she had questions to ask me (such as is there any substance abuse, violent behaviour, and there weapons in the house, smoking etc), as well as to arrange for a nurse to call later n the week or first of next week, to do all the paperwork. They will also register us for hospice services, which does not mean going there necessarily, but it does provide 24 hour care when needed. So if we had any issues at any time night or day, we can call them and they will come.
We are lucky to have so many excellent services. I was about to attempt to navigate the hospice waters, to find out how to register, when Aviva called and everything was done. So we are feeling much better about that.
